“Ever since John Bunyan's "The Pilgrim's Progress," few attempts to put Biblical truth into allegorical form in stories have been successful or worthily written. The new Kingdom Series are a delightful exception that we are thankful to commend.” -Dennis Gundersen, Grace & Truth Books
This is an incredibly engaging allegorical presentation of the spiritual warfare being waged here on Earth, and of future events in the end times. The Kingdom Series uses knights, strongholds, swords, and kingdoms to convey the story of Christ - from the prophecies of Old Testament saints, to the battles believers are currently encountering, to the future victories under the Prince. The story is an allegory of the Bible in the telling of the King and His Kingdom of Arrethtrae, Leinad's mission to protect the kingdom from the Dark Knight, Cedric's (Leinad's newly trained knight) reliance on his Sword training as a newly trained knight, and the final battles with the deadly creatures from the Isle of Sedah to reclaim the kingdom and establish a new one. The series is a wonderful way to introduce discussions of the end times, as well as to encourage us to be ready servants and prepared knights for our King. The books can stand alone, but their meaning is certainly clearer when read in sequence. If this is any testimony of the "enjoyment factor" (as well as the "teaching factor") of these books, our second son, Westley, read through the series twice within five days because he was captivated by the medieval-style storyline. But the books also caused him to ask several questions about how our world ends, and who will survive that final conflict. The Book 1 Prologue and ending commentaries in each title further elucidate the allegories presented. On a spiritual level and on an allegorically literary level, this is an outstanding series of books to consider. -Kris Wilcox, The Book Peddler
“Imagine eight children of various ages sitting in a room enthralled by a book being read to them. Your imagination will turn to reality when you read The Kingdom Series by Chuck Black. My children begged for more, resulting in us reading the entire first book in one day!” -Terri Camp, homeschool mom, speaker, and author. ( Read Terri’s full review in The Old Schoolhouse Magazine)
What amazes me is how well the books can captivate readers of such a range of ages. My children range in age from 8 through 17, and each of them thoroughly enjoyed the stories. And this 40-something mom often found she was just as caught up in them, excitedly reading further (and not necessarily because the children were cheering her on to do so!) Many a lunch hour was over-extended in order to hear what would happen next! As we came to the end of Kingdom's Dawn, the first of the four books, my youngest, Sarah, asked with disappointment, "Is that all?" She grinned happily to hear there were three more. -Julie Dear, The Old Schoolhouse Magazine ( Read Julie’s full review in The Old Schoolhouse Magazine)
“Thank you for the last book [Kingdom’s Reign]! Josh has already finished it—and loved it! He started back over on Kingdom’s Dawn for the third time...thank you!” -Carol, Oklahoma City
“I would
like to say THANK-YOU for your incredible Kingdom's Dawn series. They are my
absolute favorite books. They are filled with non-stop high packed action
adventure, with the Word of the Lord and Bible Stories all put into one book.
(Who would have thought it possible?) I am a girl of thirteen and I have many
other girl friends that like them. Believe it or not but we have even made
swords and shields to go with them, we like to play kingdom's dawn. We have
had such a wonderful time reading the books.” |
